Nicholas D. Smith is James F. Miller Professor of Humanities at Lewis and Clark College. His many books include Socratic Moral Psychology and Plato's Socrates.

Brilliant

The approachability of the text makes it attractive for beginners, but it also breaks new ground. The writing style is simple, concise, and direct. The style allows a level of interactivity rare in philosophical works. The style withholds no punchlines. It brazenly states what is the case for current epistemology, offering a survey, new approaches, and recommendations for new approaches. As an introduction to current epistemology, I can offer no higher recommendation.
